Welcome to Mac Daddy's!

When
you first arrive, you are not sure what to expect but when you pass through
the doors into Mac Daddy's you know you are in the right place. The music is
loud and pulsating. The arcade is vibrant with a life of it's own. The air
oozes with hipness. This is one trendy joint and you realize this is NOT
your father's "bowling alley."
Located in Cape Carteret, North Carolina, the new Family Entertainment
Center is a much needed opportunity for families and kids of all ages.
Creative vision of local developer Mac Holz, 'Mac Daddy's' will be
constructed on the Golfin' Dolphin property. The existing complex has been
in operation for over 15 years and was constructed and is operated by the
Holz family. The complex has 18 holes of miniature golf, a driving range
with 50 tees, an outdoor gocart track, bumper boats and baseball/softball
batting cages.
With the addition of 'Mac Daddy's' 24 lanes of bowling will be added to
compliment the existing activities along with a sports bar and grill,
lounge, billiard room, snack bar, party rooms, banquet rooms and the largest
arcade on the Crystal Coast.

| The history of bowling |
The
evolution of bowling has gone through five distinct stages to its present
status. In its earliest stage in the mid-1800s, bowling was limited to private
clubs for its members’ enjoyment.
The second stage began with the formation of the National Bowling League. During
this period, there were few “leagues” as we now know them; however, open bowling
for entertainment purposes began when club members participated.
The third stage was the competitive era in which bowling was predominately
engaged in by men working in industry and in a league structure. Few women
participated, no mixed leagues existed and children were restricted from
participation by law in most states unless accompanied by an adult. This
atmosphere lasted until the mid-1950s.
The fourth stage is identified as the commercial boom era. Emphasis was placed
on attracting new bowlers of all ages and both genders. The major influence of
this period was the introduction of the automatic pinsetter, which eliminated
the manual setting of pins. The business could now operate without dependence on
pin boys, who were not always available. The investment in new construction
began in the mid-1950s and accelerated until 1962. During this period, the
number of centers more than doubled and new, larger centers replaced older,
smaller centers.
Since the period of consolidation, the number of centers in the U.S. has
continued to decline for a number of reasons: declining demographic conditions
within a market, increased value of real estate, or deferred maintenance,
causing a decline in business and the owner’s inability to finance improvements
necessary to be competitive.
The fifth stage, beginning in the 1990s, appears to be undergoing a renaissance
created by improved family-oriented facilities, new technology that makes the
sport more user-friendly, a more exciting atmosphere and, as a result, an
increase in open-play bowlers. The number of people bowling annually is at an
all-time high with more than 55 million participating each year, and projected
to grow by 2.5% per year. From 1998 to 1999 participation rose 3.9%
New centers are equipped with the most modern equipment available in the
industry, including the automatic scoring touch screen technology and flexible
modular furniture, which is installed in a colorful, exciting environment.
Inexperienced bowlers will have the option of lane guides to prevent the ball
from prematurely falling off the lane before striking pins. The Cosmic bowling
system will provide a sound and light show to maximize your experience.
This new type of family recreation center will offer a mix of products and
services designed to appeal to individuals, families and people of variant age
groups and lifestyles. Bowl any games lately? Come join in on the fun!
